Yogeshwari travels to Brazil for Integrative Yoga Therapy Training May 9th - June 3rd
Here is a link
for the training I am doing and the retreat center location in southern Brazil. I am
very excited about pursuing Yoga Therapy certification. Working one-on-one with students
using yoga as a healing system in conjunction with my massage and counseling background
is a dream come true. www.enchantedmountainbrazil.com/english/english.htm
Mexico Yoga Retreat October 29 - November 2, 2007
Plan ahead for this relaxing, invigorating and breezy yoga vacation in the Yucatan. Partake
in daily yoga, healing massage, balancing acupuncture and refreshing facials. I have been staying
here for over 20 years and finally the time has come to share the wonderful island getaway with
students and clients.
Here is where we'll stay overlooking the Caribbean turquoise waters across fom the bustle
of Cancun on the island of Isla Mujeres. This is my good friend and massage pal Mary Ann
who has lived on the island for 20 years and will be our hostess!
Progressive Practice Tips
How to advance your inner experience and go deeper into yoga and meditative states? Regular practice, having a teacher and surrender are the keys to success. Whether you are a novice or have years into practicing, commit to a time and work a little every day. It is more effective to spend 30 minutes a day than 2-3 hours once a week. This is true for most things, weeding the garden, learning a language or playing an instrument requires continual steady practice. If you practice in bursts your outcomes will be felt in bursts. If you practice or rehearse regularly you will feel steady progressive improvement to sustain you over time. It is also important to stick with a practice long enough to feel some movement and growth. Most people just before a breakthrough! Know that a shift may take a while. ‘Effort over time equals grace.’ Babaji, my teacher says these are the wings of a bird that will carry you into deeper levels of spiritual growth. Second, having a teacher is the surest way to move forward with yoga and meditation. There will be times of resistance. Strong feelings may arise and old tension patterns emerge. The purification process required to ‘Wake Up’ is daunting at times, likened to drilling a deep well where the driller hits layer upon layer of different substances before reaching water. It has been compared to peeling the layers of an onion with tears pouring at times…... Know the tears are part of the journey. Without a skilled teacher the student would certainly give up when things get tough - which is inevitable. Regular practice invites tension patterns to bubble up to the surface, to be exposed and thereby surrendered. Analyzing the process or pushing with will is of no use. Noticing and witnessing what arises, like an explorer, but with detachment is what is most useful when resistance rears its head. This requires surrender and conscious release.
Surrender is oh so important. Once one holds onto the tension and gets infatuated by it, progress slows down and overwhelm or frustration can cause the student to turn back or stop practicing. Sitting still, breathing and surrendering over time create a strong core foundation for deeper opening thus allowing higher energy to rise. The death and rebirth cycle happens with repeatedly surrendering on deeper and deeper levels, and that takes sustained meditation practice with proper guidance. It is attainable for everyone with the wish to grow!
I recently finished Level 2 Meditation Teacher training at Shambhava School of Yoga and Meditation in Eldorado Mountain ashram. What a gift! I learned so much and feel very fortunate; much Gratitude to my amazing teachers, the lineage and Babaji.
