Home Practice Tips
- Set up the space:
Light a candle and put on some peaceful
music
Get out your mat, a towel, blanket, whatever you’ll need
for props
- Settle into your self
- Sit on your folded blanket, towel or cushion and wriggle
into an easy upright sitting pose
Follow your breath and take some time to simply sit still
with inner curiosity
- Let the outside world recede
- Repeat a mantra like Ham Sa or Om Namah Shivaya for 5
to 10 minutes
Surrender to the practice and ask for inner guidance
or set an intention for yourself
- Begin to move into asana practice keeping the inner focus
- Warm up with some pelvic tilts, cat cow, robin’s breath,
hip rolls etc . . . you know what to do . . .
Gradually move into a forward bend, a back bend, a twist,
a side stretch, a balance pose and whatever combinations
feel good. Ease into deeper stretching as you feel directed
by your inner teacher. Breathe with the poses. Move slowly,
with awareness. You can practice for 10 minutes or up to
one hour if you’re on a roll.
- Transition from standing or
sitting to lying down
- Prepare for deep relaxation
- Cool down with pelvic tilts, easy bridge, hip rolls,
and knees to chest . . .
- Put on socks and cover
yourself with a warm blanket or shawl
- Lie comfortably on
your back, surrender, rest and receive the nourishing
benefits of your home practice!
It started snowing as I am writing to you . . . who wants
to leave the house in this stuff? Email me with your home
practice feedback. It is wonderful to hear how you are
progressing. or if you need help dealing with resistance
please ask!
Sunday Yoga BLISS for Women – Note:
New Time!
1 – 3pm the 1st and 3rd Sunday
of every month, starts Sunday.
Note: NEW TIME!!!!
This is a
relaxing, restorative, renewing, and regenerative yoga
class. No previous yoga experience is necessary. This is
an opportunity for all of you who care for others daily to
be pampered and nurtured. The two hours fly by as you deeply
relax and rejuvenate. You are on the floor for the entire
class resting into bolsters, blankets, pillows and other
yoga props. However, the spine is moved in all six directions
so deep healing and release occurs along the spinal column
and throughout your body/mind. Give yourself two hours to
leave the world and its myriad responsibilities behind.
Barb offers this particular style of yoga, Anjali Restorative
Yoga, to other women because this practice helped me to
move through a very difficult time in my own life. Experience
is the greatest teacher.
Price is $15.00 for the
two-hour class. If you plan to attend class, please call Barbara at 303-494-4108
or email barbara.coleman@comcast.net before
noon on the 1st or 3rd Sunday of the month. Your calling ahead of time helps
her know how many props to bring to class, but if the mood strikes you to
attend at 12:30 on a Sunday, please come.
